Overview
A Worksite carries two separate status fields. They're often confused because they overlap in plain English, but they track different things:
Status — the administrative outcome of the application itself. Five values.
Work Status — the operational progress of the physical work, on the ground, over the life of the Worksite. Nine values, actively used throughout the whole lifecycle including after acceptance.
Status answers "was this application approved?". Work Status answers "where is this Worksite right now?". A Worksite's Status can sit at Accepted for months while its Work Status moves through Ready to start → Started → Pending warranty → Closed.

A decline isn't necessarily the end of the road. A Declined application can be revised — this takes it back to Draft, then Published Draft/Submitted again for re-review by the RCA.

Branch points to know
Non-conformance notice issued and Stop work notice issued are independent, not exclusive. Both branch off Work started and return to Work started once the RCA clears the notice — work doesn't need to be resubmitted from scratch. In practice, a Worksite can have an open Non-Conformance Notice and a Stop Work Notice active at the same time; one doesn't require the other to be cleared first.
Warranty only applies to excavation CARs and Global Permits. Non-excavation CARs and Events skip straight from Work completion notice issued to Worksite closed once the RCA accepts the Work Completion Notice.
A declined Work Completion Notice sends the Worksite back to Work started, not Pending approval. This is a Work Status decline and is unrelated to the Status field's own Accepted/Declined outcome at the application stage.
Auto-generated notices may exist for up to two events: the initial Work Completion Notice (for some RCAs only), and the Maintenance Completion Notice at the end of the warranty period. Neither needs to be manually triggered by the applicant.

For Applicants
Your actions affect Status and Work Status separately — keep them apart when reading this:
Status actions:
Submitting a draft moves Status to Submitted.
Revising a declined application takes Status back to Draft, then Published Draft/Submitted again for re-review.
Work Status actions (only available once Status is Accepted):
Submitting a draft also moves Work Status to Pending approval, awaiting processing by the RCA.
Starting work — once accepted, submit a Work Start Notice to move Work Status to Work started.
Completing work — submit a Work Completion Notice to move Work Status to Work completion notice issued (shown on-screen as "Work complete"), unless this is auto-generated for your Worksite.
Everything else — acceptance, decline, non-conformance, stop-work, and warranty sign-off — is an RCA decision. If your Worksite's Work Status is Pending approval, Non-conformance notice issued, Stop work notice issued, Work completion notice issued, or Pending warranty completion, you're waiting on the RCA; check the History panel or your RCA Assignee's contact details rather than contacting myWorksites support.
For RCA users
Status actions:
Accept / Decline a submitted application — sets Status to Accepted or Declined.
Work Status actions:
Accepting an application also moves Work Status to Ready to start work (declining sends it back to Pending approval, awaiting the applicant's revision).
Issue / resolve a Non-Conformance Notice or Stop Work Notice on a Worksite after Work has started — independently of each other; both can be open at once.
Accept / Reject a Work Completion Notice — Work Status moves to Work in warranty or Worksite closed, or back to Work started if rejected.
Accept / Reject a Maintenance Completion Notice at the end of the warranty period — Work Status moves to Worksite closed or back to Work in warranty.
Note the automatic branch by Worksite type: accepting a Work Completion Notice on an excavation CAR or Global Permit sends the Worksite into its warranty period (Work in warranty); accepting the same notice on a non-excavation CAR or Event closes the Worksite immediately.
