Submitting a TMP to Multiple RCAs
When submitting a Traffic Management Plan (TMP), it may be necessary to include multiple Road Controlling Authorities (RCAs) if your worksite spans different authority boundaries. For example, this can happen if your work is on a highway, but your signage is placed on an on-ramp or nearby road managed by a different RCA.
Key Features and Benefits
Comprehensive Coverage: Ensure that all areas impacted by your worksite, including signage locations, are properly accounted for by submitting to multiple RCAs.
Efficient Multi-RCA Submissions: Easily assign both Primary and Secondary RCAs within your TMP, streamlining the approval process across multiple authorities.
Full Visibility: Track the approval process for each RCA individually, with notifications and detailed application history ensuring you stay informed at every step.
Searchable Applications: Filter and search for cross-RCA applications, providing greater control and oversight over your submissions.
Selecting Multiple RCAs
When creating your TMP:
In the TMP Details section, you can select a Primary RCA, where the majority of the worksite is located.
You can also add one or more Secondary RCAs, which might include locations where detour signs or other signage are placed.
If you're unsure whether multiple RCA approvals are necessary, the Primary RCA will inform you if additional authorities need to be added.
What Happens on Submission
Once you’ve completed your TMP and layouts:
Submit the application, and each RCA will process the TMP individually, adding their own conditions if necessary.
You'll be notified when each RCA accepts or declines your application, and the final notification will confirm cross-RCA approval once all involved authorities have approved.
Throughout the process, the RCA assignees and their actions will be visible in the History section of your TMP application.
Acceptance Documentation
After all RCAs have approved your TMP:
You can download a TMP PDF document that includes the names, stamps, and any conditions from all approving RCAs, providing full documentation of the approval.
Searching for a Cross-RCA TMP
We’ve made it easy to search for TMPs submitted to multiple RCAs. Within TMP Search, you can filter results to find applications based on:
Specific Primary RCA or Secondary RCA assignee
Applications currently under review by a specific Secondary RCA
TMPs that involve multiple RCAs
Important Notes
All RCAs must approve your TMP for it to be fully accepted.
If you’ve added too many or missed required RCAs, your application may be declined. In that case, the RCA will advise on the changes, and you can revise your application accordingly.
