Using the Planning Map in MyWorksites

The Planning Map in MyWorksites provides an interactive, visual tool for viewing current and upcoming worksites, Traffic Management Plan (TMP) impacts, and detours. This feature allows users from both Road Controlling Authorities (RCAs) and Contractor Organisations to collaborate, avoid project clashes, and better plan their work around other activities in the same area.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Enhanced Project Planning: The Planning Map gives a comprehensive view of nearby worksites, TMP impacts, and detours, helping you identify potential overlaps and plan around other projects.

  • Improved Collaboration: See which RCAs or organisations are working in the same area and start conversations about possible collaborations to reduce disruption and maximize efficiency.

  • Customizable Views: Filter by date, location, RCA, worksite type, and more, to focus on the data that matters most to your project.

  • Real-Time Data: Stay updated with accepted, submitted, or in-warranty worksites, helping you stay ahead of conflicts and make timely decisions.

How to Use the Planning Map

  1. Accessing the Map:

    • You can access the Planning Map from the main menu bar. After selecting a region, the map will display along with the sidebar and floating selectors for customization.

  2. Switching Map Views:

    • In the 'Base Map' dropdown (2), switch between Street, Satellite, and Aerial views based on your preference.

  3. Filtering by Date and Location:

    • The map automatically displays Accepted Worksites within a 2-week period, but you can adjust the Date Range (4) to suit your needs.

    • Use the Location Selector (3) to focus on a specific address or region.

  4. Searching and Filtering:

    • Use the Search function (5) to find specific worksites by keywords like Worksite ID, TMP ID, or Organisation name.

    • The RCA Selector (6) allows you to filter features by the Road Controlling Authority involved.

  5. Customizing Sidebar Filters:

    • By default, only Accepted Worksites (7) are shown, but you can use the sidebar to view Submitted Worksites (8), TMP impacts, detours, Published Draft Worksites (9), and In-Warranty Worksites (10).

    • Further filter worksite and TMP impacts by type, such as Excavation/Non-excavation worksites or road closures and restrictions.

Worksite, TMP Impacts and Detours on map

  1. The Planning Map groups features into clusters based on location. Clicking a cluster icon zooms in to display more detailed feature information, including Worksites, TMP Impacts, and Detours.

  2. Colour-coded icons help distinguish between different types of work, such as excavation or road restrictions.

Clicking a feature brings up a pop-up with detailed information, including the work window, organisation, and work type. If multiple features are located in the same area, use the 'Previous' and 'Next' buttons to cycle through them.
