For organisations that carry out routine, high-volume, low-risk, and low-impact works, MyWorksites offers the option to apply for a Global Permit or Generic Traffic Management Plan (TMP). These permits allow for streamlined approval processes, enabling work to be carried out without the need for reviews from Road Controlling Authorities (RCAs), provided certain conditions are met.
Key Features and Benefits
Streamlined Approvals: Global Permits and Generic TMPs eliminate the need for ongoing RCA reviews for routine works, allowing for faster and more efficient processes.
Flexible Deployment: Once approved, layouts can be added to a Generic TMP without requiring additional RCA approvals, saving time.
Enhanced Project Management: Manage and deploy multiple layouts under a single Global Permit, with full oversight and documentation within MyWorksites.
Compliance and Control: Ensure all work remains within the conditions set by the Global Permit and Generic TMP, reducing administrative overhead while maintaining safety standards.
How to Apply for a Global Permit and Generic TMP
1. Discuss with Your RCA
Before proceeding with an application, it’s important to discuss the Global Permit or Generic TMP with your RCA and Traffic Management Coordinator (TMC). Applications are unlikely to be accepted without prior consultation.
2. Applying for a Global Permit
Start by creating a Global Permit in MyWorksites. Click on the 'Create Worksite' link under the WORKSITES tab in the menu bar or on the homepage tile.
On the Worksite Creation page, select 'Global Permit' under the Application Type field.
Complete the form with the worksite’s name, RCA, and the Principal Client’s information. Click 'Save and Return' to move to the next page.
Confirm the jurisdiction, enter the worksite reference, and define the work window. You’ll also add work items, documentation, and relevant contacts before submitting the application.
3. Submitting a Generic TMP
Once the Global Permit is created, apply for a Generic TMP by clicking 'Create TMP' on the Global Permit.
By default, the first TMP created on a Global permit will be the Generic TMP. All additional TMPs added will be defaulted to site-specific TMPs.
Attach your methodology and any supporting documents, then submit the Generic TMP for review.
Unlike site-specific TMPs, a Generic TMP does not require layouts to be submitted initially. However, you will need to list planned layouts in advance and review other works in the area to avoid clashes.
Adding Methodology Files to a Generic TMP
Attach methodology files before submitting the TMP. After approval, the attached methodology will include the RCA approval stamp on each page.
To update methodology files, revise the TMP, remove the old file, attach the new one, and resubmit for approval.
Adding Layouts to an Approved Generic TMP
Once the Generic TMP is approved:
Add layouts without needing to revise or resubmit the TMP.
Ensure all layouts comply with the conditions of the Global Permit and Generic TMP. If conditions cannot be met, apply for a Site Specific Worksite or TMP.
The 'Universal Traffic Management Diagram' field allows you to identify which diagram you’re using for layout deployments.
What to Do If Conditions Cannot Be Met
If You Meet Global Permit Conditions But Not Generic TMP Conditions
Create a Site Specific TMP under the approved Global Permit by clicking '+ Create TMP' in the TMP section of the Global Permit.
If Your Work Is Outside Global Permit Conditions
Apply for a Site Specific Worksite. This can only be created after the Global Permit and Generic TMP (with at least one layout) are accepted. From the approved Generic TMP, click '+ Create site specific worksite' to start the process.
Viewing Site Specific Worksites on a Global Permit
You can view a list of all Site Specific Worksites and TMPs created under a Global Permit. Each site-specific worksite will reference the Global Permit and Generic TMP it was created from.
